LEWIS SHEPARD
Lewis Shepard, who has been an independent art appraiser for over 40 years, studied art history at Rutgers and Indiana and then worked at Sotheby’s in New York. He moved to Massachusetts to become Curator of Collections at the Mead Art Museum, Amherst College and has taught at Amherst, Smith, Rhode Island School of Design and Bentley. His special interest has been American art in a variety of media. He has been fortunate to evaluate artists’ estates, often seeing hundred examples of their work. Lewis and his wife, Ellen Berezin, have had a home in Wellfleet since 2012. He has been presenting courses with OUW since 2019.
