Pat Nash
Dance has been a passion of Pat’s from the time she was two years old and first danced to The Nutcracker Suite in her living room. It has continued to be an important part of her life. She is grateful for the opportunity to share her passion and knowledge of world dance in this class. Pat has broad experience in dance, especially in international folk dance. She taught and coordinated folk dancing groups in Oregon and performed with various troupes. She has attended many folkdance workshops in California, Oregon, Washington, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Cape Breton and Scotland.
Pat played rhythm guitar in Oregon for the Langlois Mountain Scottish Fiddlers and The All-Girl Impromptu Pick-Up Band. Since becoming a WashAshore on Cape Cod in 2012, she continues to play guitar for the Cape Cod Fiddlers and Ruffled Hens, a Celtic/Folk trio, as well as contributing to Irish sessions on Cape Cod. She also is on the organizing committee for the Outermost Contra Dance series and calls contra dances.
Pat holds a B.S. and M.S. in Education from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon. As an educator, she taught Special Education and was Coordinator of Special Programs for Coquille School District in Southern Oregon. She was employed by the University of Oregon as a Regional Coordinator for Teaching Reading, and also taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Teaching Reading and Special Education for Eastern Oregon University and Portland State University.
