Elissa Greenwald

Elissa Greenwald was a member of the fourth class of undergraduate women at Yale, where she received her B.A. in 1976 and her Ph.D. in English Literature in 1981.  She taught American Literature at Rutgers University for seven years and Advanced Placement English Literature at Clifton High School in New Jersey for 15 years.  The author of a book of literary criticism, Realism and the Romance: Hawthorne, Henry James, and American Fiction, she has also published articles on Dickinson, Woolf, Ford Madox Ford, Ginsberg, and Adrienne Rich.  Since retiring in 2018, she has been writing fiction.  She has visited the Cape in the summertime for half a century.  She hopes to add paddleboarding to the list of her favorite Cape activities--hiking, swimming, cycling, kayaking, and whale watching.
